Tehran is ready to resume nuclear negotiations with Washington as long as it is handled with "dignity" and "respect", Tehran's top diplomat has announced.

Abbas Araghchi declared solely negotiations worked, and shared new appeals had been made by intermediaries to resume negotiations with the American leadership. He asserted Iran did not have unreported enrichment locations, and Iran was not yet able to permit the global atomic watchdog to access attacked atomic facilities for safety concerns.

Walking a Challenging Course

Afterward, Western states used their privilege to restore international penalties, but Iran insists they have not had a significant effect.

Perfect Agreement Proposed

Iran's diplomats stated they felt they had achieved a "perfect agreement" to the enrichment issue in prior discussions, when it was agreed an Iran-based consortium with US participation could refine atomic fuel. Both sides would have been able to declare success since domestic enrichment would have persisted and the US could be assured that Iran's nuclear programme was solely for peaceful purposes.

It had not been settled in the discussions that US nuclear scientists could function on Iranian soil, but that was a reasonable assumption of the cooperative offer. Diplomats asserted on multiple occasions they had secured an understanding with Washington's diplomat Steve Witkoff only for the deal to collapse due to "opponents in the US".

Current Status

Iranian officials declared the consortium offer was now withdrawn, but it seems quite possible the suggestion could be resurrected in various formats if negotiations resume.

The US president in recent days stated he had been getting signals that Iran desired to restart talks, but confidentially Iranian officials state they are not yet getting clear proposals from the United States either explicitly or from key regional mediators, such as Qatar, the Egyptian leadership, the Omani authorities and Saudi Arabia. The Iranian foreign ministry has been charged of inactivity in the face of Trump's direct instinctive approach, but Iran says negotiations is not part of a performance.

Diplomatic Position

In his remarks to the forum, designed to paint the US as a controlling nation that abuses the concept of worldwide standards, the foreign minister stated the fortnight-long engagement demonstrated the conflict could not be resolved by military means. He stated the attacks began with a Washington's ultimatum for an complete Tehran capitulation and concluded with an unconditional call for a ceasefire.

Araghchi declared: "Tehran was not the one that had deserted dialogue; it was the United States and the European states that had always attempted to impose their demands during the talks. Negotiations can still be active and stays the ultimate answer to address conflicts, but its standards, regulations and tenets must be adhered to."
