Norris Edges Out Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outscored his teammate at all of the last five grands prix.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the quickest lap in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the championship lead from his teammate by one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, outpaced the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Until that point, Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points Norris, was classified in 17th place as his team opted for a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, if briefly, when he spun at Turn Four during the early running.
Tsunoda lost control over the track edges before spinning across the gravel trap, and was lucky to avoid just a light touch of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the practice, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner before the final corner on to the pit straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th place, just behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the other competitors, with the German's car in third, over half a second off the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
