A person who spiked treats with tranquilliser and provided them to youngsters at a summer program in Leicestershire has admitted sexual offenses against two young males aged nine and ten years old.
Jon Ruben was arrested after eight youngsters and a grown-up became sick at the location in mid-summer.
The elderly man, from that region, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he stood at the courthouse on the end of the week.
Yet, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was involving a nine-year-old child.
Ruben was remanded in custody ahead of a further hearing on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
Mary Prior KC, presenting evidence, detailed the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She stated his victims were disadvantaged youngsters who were staying at a summer program which he operated.
Ruben conducted a "treat game" with the minors, the prosecutor stated, in which he would access the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and request they to ingest treats "as fast as possible".
She stated to the judge the man had engaged in this activity with the boys "repeatedly", and youngsters had previously fallen ill the following morning.
She explained Ruben had been able to explain this for many years as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had concerns in summer 2025.
The legal representative stated further: "In the summer" his stepchild had worries about the situation, with valid cause.
"They decided to have a look in the individual's items."
The prosecutor explained items including lubricant, Vaseline and syringes were located, and his family member notified the authorities about his suspicions.
She stated the defendant proceeded to engage in the "candy game" with six children that time - July 26th - and they were all ill the following morning.
"Authorities" had not responded by that stage," she stated further.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, previously told that it was investigating the police response of the events.
Mrs Prior stated the children were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so Ruben's stepson contacted the law enforcement once more.
She stated the defendant then conducted the "treat game" in a room of five children.
