Approximately 25,000 homes in southeastern Queensland woke up without power on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms swept through the state, generating wind gusts hitting over 100 km/h.
Large Hailstones and Extensive Impact
Locals reported giant hailstones reaching sizes of seven centimeters in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that various areas across Queensland had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Response teams were focused on reestablishing power throughout the damaged zones, with nearly 70 crews deployed to address the widespread outages.
Southern State's Weather Woes
Meanwhile, nearly one thousand residents in Victoria also experienced power outages after the metropolitan area recorded its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.
Emergency response teams received 598 emergency reports across the area, primarily for property damage but also for fallen timber and water accumulation.

At one point on Sunday, more than 28k power users in Victoria were lacking electricity.
Meteorological Predictions
Humid circumstances were expected to linger along much of the state's eastern regions this week as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the shoreline.
Tuesday was expected to become the most rainy day, with ongoing thunderstorm potential predicted across various areas of both areas.

Health officials alerted that there was an greater possibility of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
